Coca-Cola Expands Renewable Energy Use With New Wind and Solar Partnership in Argentina

Coca-Cola has taken a major step toward sustainability by signing a five-year renewable energy agreement in Argentina. The global beverage giant partnered with Genneia, the country’s largest clean energy producer, to power its concentrate plant in Buenos Aires and its storage facility in Ezeiza using wind and solar energy. The agreement will replace nearly 80% of the facilities’ annual electricity consumption with certified renewable power through Argentina’s MATER energy market.

This transition to clean energy is expected to reduce carbon emissions, lower reliance on fossil fuels, and improve air quality for nearby communities. It also supports Argentina’s growing renewable energy sector by driving demand for wind and solar infrastructure, creating jobs, and encouraging long-term investment.

The move aligns with Coca-Cola’s global climate strategy, which targets net-zero emissions by 2050 and a 25% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 compared to 2015 levels. Renewable energy adoption may also help stabilize production costs by reducing exposure to volatile fossil fuel prices, potentially benefiting consumers.

Despite this progress, Coca-Cola continues to face criticism over plastic waste pollution, highlighting the need for stronger action in packaging and recycling alongside clean energy initiatives.
