SNL Viewers ‘So Happy’ as Mike Myers Returns to Mock Elon Musk

Saturday Night Live viewers were thrilled as award-winning Hollywood actor and SNL alum Mike Myers made a surprise return to the iconic sketch comedy show, delivering a spot-on parody of Elon Musk that quickly became a fan favorite.

During the Saturday, January 24 episode of SNL, Myers appeared in the cold open as Musk after being introduced by President Donald Trump, portrayed by James Austin Johnson. Taking the stage to accept a mock “Lifetime Achievement Award,” Myers joked, “I’m so emotionless to be here… and if anyone knows humor, it’s me,” before adding, “No tariffs on… legalize comedy!”

The sketch didn’t stop there. Myers, who has often critiqued Trump-era politics in the past, continued with sharp satire, quipping that “a few things had to be destroyed” over the past year. He later introduced a fake version of Carrie Underwood, sending the studio audience — and viewers at home — into laughter.

Fans react to Mike Myers’ SNL return

Social media quickly lit up following the episode. Fans on X (formerly Twitter) praised Myers’ Elon Musk impression and celebrated his return to the SNL stage.

One viewer wrote, “Mike Myers as Elon Musk? Well played, SNL.”

Another added, “MIKE MYERS ON SNL — THEY DID THIS FOR ME.”

Others simply posted, “So happy!” and “Greatest role.”

A nostalgic moment for SNL fans

Mike Myers last appeared as a regular SNL cast member in 1995, concluding a six-year run that produced iconic characters such as Wayne Campbell, Dieter, and Linda Richman. While he has made guest appearances over the years, this return felt especially nostalgic for longtime fans.

The same episode also featured Teyana Taylor’s hosting debut, alongside musical guest Geese, following the band’s breakout year and hit album Getting Killed. Taylor’s appearance comes after her 2026 Golden Globe win for One Battle After Another.

New episodes of Saturday Night Live air Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC, with streaming available the next day on Peacock.
